Classification and classification of biosafety laboratories

Grading of biosafety laboratories

The biosafety laboratory can consist of a protective zone and an auxiliary work zone .

The Biosafety Laboratory is divided into four levels based on the degree of biohazard and the protective measures taken by the laboratory. The Microbial Biosafety Laboratory may use BSL-1/BSL-2/BLS-3/BLS-4 to indicate the corresponding level of laboratory; the animal biosafety laboratory may use ABSL-1/ABSL-2/ABSL-3/ABSL- 4 indicates the corresponding level of the laboratory.

The biosafety laboratory is graded as follows:
Level 1 , low individual hazard, low group hazard, low risk to human body, animal and plant or environment, does not have pathogenic factors for healthy adults, animals and plants.

Secondary , medium individual hazard, limited group hazard, is a disease-causing factor that is moderately harmful or potentially dangerous to humans, animals, plants, or the environment, and does not cause serious harm to adults, animals, plants and the environment. There are effective preventive and therapeutic measures.

Tertiary , high individual hazard, low group hazard, highly harmful to human body, animals, plants or the environment, causing serious or even fatal diseases through direct contact or aerosol, or high risk to animals, plants and the environment The causative agent. There are usually preventive and therapeutic measures.

Grade 4, high individual hazard, high group hazard, is a highly dangerous pathogen that is highly dangerous to humans, animals, plants or the environment, and which is transmitted or transmitted through the aerosol route, unknown or unknown. There are no preventive and therapeutic measures.

Classification of biosafety laboratories

Biosafety laboratories can be classified into Class A and Class B according to the route of transmission of pathogenic biological factors. Class A refers to laboratories operating non-airborne biological factors; Class B refers to laboratories operating airborne biological factors. Class B1 biosafety laboratories refer to laboratories that can effectively operate with safety isolators; b2 biosafety laboratories refer to laboratories that cannot operate effectively with safety isolators.
