The reporter learned from Tianjin University that the team of Professor Xu Kexin used optical technology to develop a new type of human blood glucose monitoring equipment, which achieved a non-invasive, rapid and continuous monitoring of blood glucose levels in a single day. This study is expected to end the pain of needle-stick blood tests in diabetic patients and facilitate the monitoring and treatment of blood glucose in diabetic patients. Related research results have recently been published in the latest issue of Biomedical Optics Express.

After the human body consumes food, the blood sugar level will peak in about 1 hour, and return to normal level after 2-3 hours. During this period, changes in blood glucose can cause skin absorption and scattering of light. These optical signals can indirectly reflect the blood sugar level of the human body. The feasibility of this measurement method has been widely verified by scholars at home and abroad. Non-invasive blood glucose measurement is a complex subject integrating spectroscopy, medicine and instrument science. It not only needs to develop high-signal-to-noise ratio spectrum detection equipment, but also needs to solve stable human-machine interface, anti-human skin random variation disturbance, individual difference correction. Such measurement problems. Since the 1980s, research institutions around the world have invested in this instrument research, but at this stage there are no successful and reliable test instruments.

Xu Kexin's research team focused on non-invasive blood glucose measurement for 20 years and accumulated a lot of achievements in basic theoretical research, measurement technology and instrument development. In order to reduce the disturbance of human-machine interface and skin random variation and eliminate individual differences, Xu Kexin team creatively proposed a new technology using multi-position circular receiving spectral signals and differential data processing to suppress body temperature fluctuations, skin sweating, and human-machine The influence of interference factors such as interface changes greatly improved the measurement accuracy. The team also proposed the new technology for suppressing the influence of skin scattering differences such as floating reference point values for the first time in the world. These new measurement technologies are not only the first in China, but also applied for two. US patent authorization (the same patent has obtained Chinese patent authorization).

At present, the non-invasive blood glucose monitoring instrument developed by the team has successfully realized the blood glucose curve continuously monitored within 2-3 hours after eating, and the detection error level is about 0.5-1 mmol/L.
