How to cover the soil

Soil covering is one of the key technologies for the transformation of Agaricus bisporus from vegetative growth to reproductive growth. When the mycelium of Agaricus bisporus is full of culture material, it can be covered with soil in time.

Production of covering materials

(1) The choice of soil: The covering material shall be loose and have water holding capacity. Generally, neutral soil is used, or synthetic nutrient soil can also be used. At present, more peat soil, paddy soil, and vegetable garden soil are used, but they must be fields that are free of chemical pollution and no mushroom waste was used in the past. Take soil less than 15-20 cm for use, because soil less than 15-20 cm rarely contains latent pests and fungi such as nematodes, walnut fleshy fungi and verrucosporus mold.

(2) Production: Put the soil retrieved from the field on the cement ground, spread, break, dry, and sift out the impurities in the soil; take the fresh, mildew-free and insect-free husker and use 0.1%, Soak the lime water above pH 10 for 24 hours and then pick it up, mix it according to the volume ratio of soil and chaff 3:2, and then use 0.1%, pH 8-9 lime water to adjust the water to the hulled soil until it can form a clump in the hand. The water content can be dispersed, the pH value of the made soil material is about 7.5, and the soil and the bran cannot be separated.

Soil covering method

(1) Soil-covering time: The soil-covering time is when the mycelium is overgrown with the culture material layer, generally 15 to 20 days after sowing the strain. In order to produce early mushrooms, some soil is covered before the hyphae grow to the end. In this case, the hyphae on the material surface continue to grow above the soil layer, while the hyphae in the material grow downward. Since the mycelium grows in two directions, crawling slowly, it will delay the fruiting time.

(2) Soil covering method: regardless of the thickness of the soil, one-time covering.

(3) Covering soil thickness: 3~4 cm is appropriate, and the thickness should be kept relatively consistent.
